Cultures of Serbian weddings

The ceremony itself is one of the most crucial aspects of a bride evening. It is the point in time when two deeply in love folks https://blogs.belmont.edu/communications/2020/10/08/how-to-overcome-conflict-in-a-long-distance-relationship/ can get married and begin their lives up. This was the situation with Mici & Jack, who were married in a stunning standard serbian ceremony at The Serbian Orthodox Church St Nicholas Woolloongabba.

The full wedding experience starts at the bride’s house for a skep ( pre-ceremony party ) hours before the ceremony. Visitors arrive below and enjoy the food, camaraderie, home, and songs.

The handful leaves the skep after it is finished in a caravan of beeping horns and waving flags for the temple. They receive congratulations from the Godfather and their kumovi ( godparents, maid of honor, and best man ) during this time.

The Buklijas, also known as the groom’s family members, encourage various guests to drink from a special flask that is typically adorned with cash before the ceremony. This custom, which dates back hundreds of years, is seen as a way of saying” thank you” to all the visitors who came.

The bride and the groom both wear a unique pair of rings during the meeting. They stand for the light that will lead them through their marriage and are positioned on the fourth finger of their right hands.

Following the ceremony, the bride and groom are greeted in their new house by their mother-in-law serbian brides and father-after. The wife is given sweets by the mother-in-law along with food under their shoulders and a bottle of wine in each side. This is done to demonstrate the bride’s independence and ability to provide for her household.
